Bit confused with an issue I'm having with building a standalone RDS server using 2012 R2 as a VM on a Hyper-V server host. All the roles are installed on the one VM.

At present we have two 2008 R2 physical RDS boxes, with NLB on the older (DL380 G5) machine. The load is biased towards the second, DL380 Gen8 box as the G5 has started doing random restarts under heavy load.

The NLB was setup for us and has never been right in my opinion. It works internally, but we have to have two external IPs, if logging into one doesn't work, we have to use the other. Hardly elegant...

The new box is configured to use RD Web Access, and apart from being domain joined is not linked to the other RDS servers - yet when logging in using RD Web, it redirects to the original G5?! I have no idea where to look to sort this - any ideas please?

I should add, it works fine internally, it's logging in externally that the issue occurs. The existing RDS are accessed using port 3389 which I want to eventually get rid of for security reasons.

thanks :)

Got it sorted - turns out the rd gateway was mis-configured and that particular external IP is also the one used for one of the existing terminal servers so instead of tunneling through port 443 it was using 3389 instead which went to the wrong server.
