This is doing my head in :(

Hi,

I need help with this annoying message popping up in dashboard.

I installed windows R2 standard and installed essentials. Now I'm getting this message

Server is not connected to the internet

The server is a domain controller

Installed Hyper V

The thing is..the server is connected and I can get on google etc...

When I try and fix this problem with Ty to repair on the Right hand tab... the message goes away...But when I click refresh it re-appears

I'm struggling to work out why?

Thanks in advance.

Drashna over at we got served said this

"I'm assuming you're running Server 2012R2 Standard, and have installed the "Essentials Experience" role as well.

As for the HyperV role, do you have a second NIC that can be dedicated to it? If not, do that. Otherwise, it an cause issues "sharing" a NIC with the host OS.

Now, as for the internet issue, you should have the DNS server role installed. If so, check the NIC's IP address. Make sure the DNS server is set to "127.0.0.1". This will force the server to use itself as the DNS server (this is REQUIRED for proper operation).
Once you've verified that, open up the DNS console (Control Panel >> System and Settings >> Administrative Tools). Right click on the server's name and select "Properties". Then under the "DNS Forwarder" tab, make sure that there is at least one IP address listed here. If there isn't, then this is your issue. Add your ISP's DNS servers here (router's WAN config should list the DNS servers), or add Google's ( 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS's."
