server antivirus software

Hi there,

Which free antivirus sofware can be used to protect my server?

I am using win 2003 server and free avg wont go on it as I need avg server edition...

So I am after a free antivirus software for my server...

Please help

There's actually a way around that, but I'm not going to tell you it

Google is most probably your friend here, but its a reg hack.

Other than that, I am unsure of any freebies for servers.

- avg

Or

- avast

this is for server 2003

I have been using Avast for Windows Home Server, and I know you will require a different version, but it suits my WHS needs perfectly.

I would recommend Avast purely because I prefer it on a desktop as well.

I'd not use AVG on a desktop, nevermind a server.

Admittedly, I have never had a problem with AVG in probably over 10 machines I've used it on. It's not the best, but it's not the worst either

Avast just wound me up with its annoying notifications and stupid homogay voice. OOI, is there a way to tailor that to stop it??

The best experience is your own experience, I use AVG server, network edition and Antivirus on our customers machines. We have yet to have any problems, sold 250 copies of AV so far not including server and network ed. (we are gold resellers now inside a year) Symantec failed to pick up the trojan doing the rounds infecting everything that comes in contact with it (via memory stick etc), AVG was straight in there and quarantined it. We now use AVG as the sheepdip AV instead of relying on symantec endpoint.
There are certainly other good AV programs out there so its your choice , but dont listen to half of the reviews and haters out there.

I also have experience of this software. On moving to sophos, there were literally hundreds of thousands of infection across the network. I still wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

I replaced AVG on my sisters machine with NOD32, and it found ~30 virus packages that AVG had missed!

I use Clamwin on my fileserver as it's free, and it's not being exposed to threats. Got no idea if it's any good though
