Server Backup drive for WHS 2011 (not client)

Got a 3TB usb drive for backing up important files from the server but found you cant use 3TB due to GPT

So is there any benefit to keeping this drive or should i swap it for a 2TB version?

This is to backup client backups, server OS and some of the more important documents of the 11TB sitting inside it

Well, it would support the drive, but of course not a full 3Tb GPT due to the restrictions with WHS2011.

Only options, as i'm aware at this time is have two partitions on your drive (both under 2Tb) to allow MBR, Or yes, time to look for another disk.

I found a solution

I found a tool from wd that formats wd only external hdds to 512e (emulation)

So I can use 3tb long as long as no one item is 2tb+

It was by chance my drive was WD
