Server backup solution

Looking for a 500GB backup solution for one of our servers. We have used REV drives and DAT72's in the past but the capactity falls short of our current requirements.

Agreed on the LTO idea, although it depends on the data, the retention/rotation you require and whether it needs to go off site.
A NAS may be suitable if you dont need to take it off site, or hot swap disks if you dont need much in the way of retention
 
On a budget you could try external HDD's through eSATA or Firewire. We put that in for one of our home workers who hosts an ftp server (being in Cornwall he has better connectivity at home than in our main office lol!:o). Using a Robocopy script scheduled to run overnight and it works lovely with minimal user intervention.

A bit 'clunky' perhaps but for smaller data sets it's a good and far cheaper alternative to an LTO especially with the price of ext HDD's dropping all the time.
