Server disposing?

Hi,

What is the best way or place to dispose servers? I got 4-5 dell rack-type servers which need disposing. It only includes chassis and motherboard.

Aparently "we" have to follow WEEE regulations. I'm trying to find out more on dell's website, but its useless

Flog it on eBay or you'll have to pay/arrange for a WEEE Collection i'm afraid!

Ebay or just plain old give it away!

You may have to do some paperwork to prove you didn't just skip it though either for WEEE and/or your asset management folks.

Yes - a friend of mine is an electrician who installs WEEE recycling plants. They are on the large side. Apparently it's quite fun seeing a large TV going through

Dell offer a recycle service, not advertised... our account manager told us about it.
£25 for each fixed unit, Collected.

I agree, shred the disks and sell the rest on ebay

You don't even need to shred the disks, use some secured real low level format on them then you can resell them.

nothing compared to the frag shredder at some of our sites. That does whole cars easily. Sometimes they leave a gas cylinder in a car, and boy when that goes up it rattles the windows on the office which is a loong way away
