Hi,

I currently have a server with this spec
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+
4x1GB DDR2 667
1x 5400 RPM 160GB boot drive
2x 7200 RPM 160GB data drives
1x 320GB USB backup drive

It runs Windows Server 2008 R2 with most of the roles installed and one Windows 7 professional test VM.

I am wondering how much power this machine will be sucking up and is it worth moving to a low powered Microserver to save money on the eleccy bills? :)

Cheers.

That is one of my options. But I'm not 100% convinced yet :)

I don't think processing power is a bottleneck at the moment, but it could be in the future.

Could you estimate my power savings form making this change?
Cheers :)

Accepted. Based on that i may just hold on out for a more powerful version of the microsercer, maybe a Proliant when i upgrade to Server 2012.
Thankyou very much for your advice.
