Hi

We have a Dell server.

The problem we are having is that if it restarts overnight after downloading updates it doesn't go past the first screen unless you press the F1 key.

The message at the bottom is something like:-

PRESS CTRL+E FOR BMC SETUP WITHIN 5 SECONDS
PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE OR F3 TO RUN SETUP.

Any ideas on why this has just started happening?

Thanks

Hi Ish, what model poweredge is it, usually you only get that when the keyboard isnt plugged in, is there any other messages?

I'm pretty sure it's a poweredge 830 and the keyboard is plugged in as when you press F1 it starts booting up

I don't remember seeing any messages out of the ordinary but I will grab a pic of the screen this evening.

Have you tried calling Dell technical?

You'll get support and more than likely a fix to your solution, they're server engineers in technical are good.

You dont need to have a keyboard plugged in to a server in order for it to boot. It sounds to me like the message sticks on BMC for 5 seconds then the other message appears rather than them both appearing at the same time. Jump in to the BIOS and see if there are any skip messages options or jump into BMC and see whats what in there.
