server help, im noob.

ok, well (boring backstory) after a night of conversing down the local, a friends better half said that he has a dual xeon server that he will sell me for £30, it has 8gb ddr2 ram and said it has no psu, its just the board, ram and cpus.

now because i do 3d VFX compositing work, the idea of rendering out on a server is more appealing than just using my crap desktop (low budget steambox basically) and would save a heck of a lot of time, how ever, ive made general gaming rigs, but have not a single clue as to servers,

so any help you can give me will be welcome, i need it to say the least.
(help like what i need to get to get it running basicially)

With it being DDR2, it's on the cusp of being a usable generation of Xeon (Could be an old, useless Socket 603, or a newer 771 C2D/C2Q based Xeon).

I'd want more information before even entertaining the idea of using it. It will be loud, hot, and take up lots of space and power. I'd wager that even your "low budget steambox" is probably not a million miles away from the "performance" you'll get from an ageing server.
