Server in garage?

Dust, Dust, Bugs, Bugs and mammals. Compared to the rest of the garage in winter the Computer will be a nice warm home for mice and the like to nest!

Take it from me mice can get into anywhere!

Periodically vac/blow it clean:)

if you are going to leave it/ignore it out there then somehow make it dust proof and preferably spider proof.

Spider egg sacks will bugger anything up and it the last thing you want to find if you have to open it up. its gross trust me! The last server died out there as poxy spiders made there homes in the PSU! BOOOM!

The new server is covered with tights! took me a while to get them all of the missus (too tight to buy new!) but its dust and bug free now at least. server looks a bit weird though.

I have mine on a little shelf I made which goes between the rafters out of the way.

Been up there 2 years without issue, I put a piece of kitchen roll in the front of the door (N40L) to stop some of the dust going in.

I have a little arduino next to it which measures temp and it got to 39 the other day :o

That was a freak occurrence though...

My server is in the garage up on the wall in a closed cuboard with 2x120 fans blowing air in and 1x120 blowing out. Makes a bit of noise and server room temp will peak about 30 in summer and a nippy 9 degrees in peak winter. Spiders would need a drill or a saw to get in unless they fancy their luck with in intake fans @1200 rpm. It's nice to ramp up 120 fans as supposed to them running at low rpm in the house.
