Hi, throwing out this problem to see if anyone has any ideas what I could do.
I have a headless Debian server being used as a general file server machine, mainly for the music library.
It runs 24/7 but occasionally it will completely lock up, and by that I mean it has to be powered down from the mains to be restarted, the reset button does not do anything. The lock up is completely random, sometimes it will run for a few weeks no problem, then it will lock up several times a day.
I've tried running monitoring programs to determine if it is a certain process or perhaps a temperature issue, but nothing is obvious, the system is not under load and does not run anything complex, CPU core rises to perhaps 44 deg at most.
The full specification is: Athlon II X2 250, Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P, 2x 2Gb DDR3 1066, SATA 8Gb SSD, 2x SATA 1TB RAID 1. It has latest BIOS, is not overclocked and uses Debian Wheezy.
I can't think of any software or BIOS settings that might make a difference.
If I need to start changing hardware, what would be the first choice? Normally I'd go for the cheapest and simplest option which is the PSU, but I'm not so sure it could be that.
Any ideas appreciated.
