I was wondering if there was any program on the market to monitor the temperatures of components in several servers on your home network and adjust fan speeds from one central workstation. Would also help if it showed CPU usage etc.

So, does anybody know of such a program?

Thanks

At our work we use PRTG to monitor our servers, shows CPU usage, memory usage, HDD free space etc etc. I doubt it's free though!

CACTI providing you can get the templates for your server and its free with a nice web front end.

Currently use it to monitor all servers, routers and switches (all ports)

What brand of servers are they? Most manufacturers produce this sort of software for their servers and some will monitor cross vendor to an extent.

There is a hardware solution to this which I've used quite happily for years. It's called the mCubed T-Balancer MiniNG and although it doesn't provide CENTRAL control it DOES automatically adjust the fan speeds for you based on the temps that the probes are monitoring. You can customise the behaviour of the controller so the fans behave according to the settings.

There is a "big brother" to it called the BigNG which has software control (so might be perfect for you?) although I've not used it. Worth a look tho.

HTH :)
