Background:
We have a server at work (at school) that has served music (backing tracks etc) for Music and ICT lessons. We've started using the server for storage for quick access to technician programs (undelete, AV etc) and also for videos that are used in assembly and presentations.
Problem:
The server is running Windows Server 2003 Standard SP1 and all the latest patches. It runs as a file and print server and has worked fine and has been visible on the network as 'Media-Server'. Not long back we noticed various machines could not find \\media-server, and instead we had to access it via IP.
We've find now that it is totally inaccessible as Media-Server, so we always have to access it via it's IP. We can't figure out why as it slowly went wrong. We've set up external access via No-IP which still works fine.
It's assigned an IP via DHCP, we've tried renaming it etc... it still won't pick up it's name anymore.
Any suggestions?
