Server/NAS - Not sure what's required

Hi

We have a repair shop. We'd like a network storage drive so that we can access things remotely from home without being in the shop.

We'd like to be able to access it under this PC by adding a drive.

What's the sort of setup needed for this? Not looking to spend loads. Something real simple and easy to setup. It is literally for word files/documents.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

I wouldn’t trust a NAS for remote access unless you we’re only accessing it via a vpn server like Wireguard. I’d be looking at Google Drive in your situation. I use it all the time and I have NAS too!

Just for the convenience of not making it limited to an account. Also, being able to open the document on the PC and edit. One drive annoys me.

Not a lot, just 1TB.

Well you going to need a log in to access data remotely on a NAS anyway so what’s the difference?

For simplicity go with OneDrive IMO. But if you do want a NAS any one will do.

You can even custom build one if you want and just share the drives but then would probably need a VPN to access the work network first, which requires log ins.
