Afternoon
I'm sick of my current server / NAS box and want to upgrade it ASAP so it can run a few VMs more easilyk. Presently its just a file and web server (currently Freenas, will be Linux).
Current spec:
Pentium G4560
Asrock E3 V5 WS motherboard
Antec True Power 650w PSU
32GB Kingston 2400 ECC DDR4
Zotac GT710 (PCIE2 x1)
Silverstone ECS04 (as HBA) which is PCIE3 x8
Silverstone CS380 Chassis
Ideally I thinking of just upgrading the motherboard and CPU - and keeping everything else the same, though PSU must be getting on for 10 years old so that could probably do with a replacement as well.
What's the best option for a budget around 500 for CPU/MoBo/PSU?
Ideally thinking at least 6 cores minimum, and need at least 2 PCIE3 x8 slots (electrically), minimum of 6 SATA ports but the more the better tbh. Not bothered if AMD or Intel, but would prefer ECC support if poss (which probably rules out Intel on cost grounds? ).
Many thanks
