Hi all

Looking to build a home server PC for a minecraft-esque game, <10 players, nothing crazy.

Does anyone with experience have any build recommendations? Just looking for something that will happily do the job without overspeccing.

this all depends on the mod's your wanting to run...
you could used a 3600x 16gb of ram, or you could need a 9950x and 128gb f ram

a lot me info is needed

be for a basic home server a 3600/3800 with 16gb of ram is good

Mods are nothing too intensive, probs looking to get the highest spec possible for around £1500 and then go from there. Budget is moveable however. Thanks for the replies.

will the server be playing the game or just running it?
ever way 1500 is a very good budget for a Minecraft server

Thanks for both your recommendations - it'll only be hosting, I'll be playing on a separate machine.

Would there be any benefit to an upgraded CPU here or is memory the main concern?

Cheers

tbf for just 10 people you could probably get away with an i3 but the differance in cost is minimal so go i5.. going i5 mean your dont have to pay for a GPU as with AMD.

the game server its self will use upto 32gb of ram if you let it so you need more for the system to have reserve
you need about 4 core's. faster the better in single core performance the 12th gen beast the AMD 5000 chip.

than all you need is fast ish storage so NVME.. i specked 2tb incase the world become massive
and a good ethernet connection we are not using wifi for a server the board i linked is lethally the chipset i could find with 2.5Gb LAN.

if you want it to run silent add a big stupid AIR cooler, but the box cooler will do just fine

link to a big stupid air cooling just incase you want one

You don't need anywhere near £1,500, I'd go 2nd hand for that use case, build on AM4 or as above 12th gen for as cheap as poss with the fastest possible CPU & 32GB
