Hey guys - has anyone tried using a server rack to store their av equipment here? I'm fed up of trying to deal with 100s of cables and power leads and sticking everything into a metal box seems like a great idea to me. I did have a look at av racks, which seem to cost more for less space.

Thinking of an 18U one of these at the moment:

About £300 with shelves and 6-way plug socket.

A cheap alternative is buying multiple 'lack' tables from Ikea, look up 'lack rack'

You can bolt them together easily, cost about £2-6 each. They fit rack sized components perfectly.

I use one for my media server

I bought a long one for my server because of the length..

Ahhh. The lovely ATC S4000. *got 3 myself :D*

Never though about mounting it like that though. Will have to have a chat with the other half. ;)

^Some idiot was selling them for like £60 brand new on ebay a few years ago.

I still use my Coolermaster ATCS 110-SX1 as my main PC case :D; that was £250, back when I was 16. Took about 1 month of washing up in a restuarant after school to pay for that
