ok, looking at getting a server for the office but wanting to upgrade the ram a bit out of the box, I can get unbuffered ram way cheaper than what the supplier is offering for the same amount, will standard DDR2 fit in a server motherboard thats got FB dimms in?
I'd take the old ram out first.

also I've heard that some servers can be picky about their ram, its a poweredge SC 1430, any opinions?

bugger.
washoping to slap some cheap (er) OC-z or somthing in there but its xeons.

interesting, the answer is ofcorse to buy the server and try some of our DDR 2 in it.
only issue is then the other ram's even more I'd guess!

ok well if I only need EEC and not FBD I should be OK buying some of that kingston (found it <3 google) for the server
now all I've godda do is convince the boss to get SBS 2003 or 2008 rather than just server on its own :S

more to the point, do the HP ProLiant ML310/ML110 range need EEC too? also do they REALLY need 800MHz rather than 667?

ok I've checked crutial and it says that the ML110 needs just EEC not FB-DIMM? its got a xeon in so surly it needs both?
