Hi all, just a quick question about server RAM.
We've got a Dell R710 at the moment with 32GB of RAM in (DDR3-1333 i believe), I want to double our capacity and have looked on Dell's website and they are quoting £90 exc VAT per extra 8GB stick which I feel is quite a lot.
I've got a quote of our IT supplier (the same people who supplied the server) and they have quoted £69 exc VAT per 8GB stick which represents a good saving, however having another quick look online after punching in our server model etc another site is bringing up 8GB sticks for £49.90 exc VAT.
The Dell site lists the RAM as "8 GB Memory Module for selected dell system - DDR3-1333 RDIMM LV 2RX4 ECC" and my quote from our supplier lists it as the same but doesn't mention the 2RX4 ECC.
The final site (cheapest) just lists it as "8GB Dell PowerEdge R710 - [DDR3-1333 ECC REG]"
Is there anything I should look for when buying this RAM or will any of these be suitable for the server? Would rather save the cash to be honest and get the cheaper one!
