OK - I've never worked on servers, so please be nice 
We have a need for a small server at work. This will just be connected to just 12 concurrent users; no connections to WLAN or t'internet or mail servers..
The server will be used to test out some new "multiuser" software that our company is thinking of purchasing. There will be data transfer from the users to the server but not masses. The software supplier offered to run everything from his damned laptop!
We asked our corporate IT boys to build a server that we could use, but thanks to outsourcing, the quoted delivery time was ~ 1 month.. and we have 1 week.
So - what kind of spec am I looking for? I'm happy to build a system (would prefer that!) but the software scares me a little; for ease I'm thinking of Windows 2003 - is that sensible?
