Hi All

Now with the delay on the release of Vista until 2007, does this mean we may see Service pack 3 for XP a little sooner???

Maybe before the end of this year. If we are really lucky

The long awaited IE7 would be nice to see at some point. And think no more hundreds of updates to install every time you do a clean XP install.

IE 7 might quite feasibly be released outside of a service pack, and if you're so desperate for it then the latest Beta 2 build is pretty good - I now use it instead of Firefox and haven't had any issues.

As for updates when you install windows, the sooner SP3 is released the sooner there will be yet more updates to install after it, the endless updating will never be over. If you reinstall all that often then you can slipstream most of the updates onto an install disk.

Personally I just let it get all the updates from the web. On broadband it doesn;t take long. I'm glad I don't have to keep them on a disc anymore. If you're on dialup I could understand. Personally I don't keep any dial up machines I look after up with the latest patches. Their AV/Firewall and such yes. But windows no.

with the delay of vista, I wonder if we'll see the likes of Halo2 and Crysis on the XP platform now.. They can't delay Halo2 much longer else it will be out of date by the time vista is released?

It won't be out of date, saying as it's based on the technology that Vista is introducing (DX10)... might be delayed in comparison to any console version though?
