Service Providers

Are they typically trustworthy? I don't want to post the name because it's likely against the rules.

My rMBP has Image Retention and there is no Apple Store for 20+ miles. Posting it makes me very uneasy so that leaves the option of a Service Provider. They say it will be 5 days to 'book it in' (whatever that means) and 5 days for the repair.

A) Does that sound about right?
B) Is there any chance of speeding the process up if I throw enough money at them? A few days without it is disruptive but nearly 2 weeks is losing earnings.

Thanks for any help you guys can bestow upon me without knowing who I'm talking about. :rolleyes:

Contact Apple and have them send a courier out to collect the machine. They should do it.

I spoke to someone via the chat service on the website and there was no mention of that, though I've heard of this happening. I'll call them instead and ask about it, thanks for the tip.

Didn't think it was an option since it wasn't mentioned, I did say sending it by post worried me though so perhaps that's why she didn't mention it.

If you have Apple Care, they will collect/ship at their own cost. If you've just got the standard EU warranty I think it's up to you to get to a store.

I needed a new charger for my MBP a while back and they sent me out a pre-paid and pre-addressed bag with the new charger that I just put the old adapter in and dropped into the post office. But that was with Apple Care.

No Apple Care, it's less than 4 months old but an early '13 rather than a Haswell build.

I was afraid of that, for a huge multinational Apple could sure use a few more Store locations. Looks like it's the Provider then, on the upside they're more likely to accept a bribe than Apple when it comes to expediting the process.

If your within your first year of ownership you get Applecare.

You get 1 year for free and 2 years extended for extra money. So like you said your in your first year so you will be covered. Even if your not covered Apple will advise you for free recommended service providers in your area.
