My mate said yesterday that he generally tips his hairdresser a few quid. News to me, I've never considered tipping a hairdresser. £35 at a big name Salon is enough surely! Am I wrong?

I tip waiters and taxi drivers if the service is good, that's pretty much it.

Any other services you can think of which you'd tip?

I tip restaurants because the staff are usually low paid.

I used to tip taxis but don't nowadays. The driver makes enough money directly from the fare so I don't see why I should tip.

I tip for: Haircuts, taxis occasionally and proper restaurants. Can't think of any others.

And, £35 for a haircut? You need a better place!

£35 for a hair cut? What?

I pay £6. It just went up 50p.

I tip when the service has been good, especially delivery drivers, they remember you for next time ;)

I don't pay people extra for doing their job. That's ludicrous. I don't get, nor expect, people offering me cash whenever I pick up their rubbish, mop up their spillages or clean the **** from the toilets because they're incapable of controlling their basic bodily functions. So why should anyone else, especially for moving food from one room to another, or from one house to another, or for snipping hair?

I usually give the delivery driver a quid as I used to be one and some nights it can really make a difference. In a restaurant if the service has been good, but the barber? not a chance.

oh, and £20 for me and my 3 kids at the barber I use. :D

Live in the States so you kind of get used to it. If service is good, 20% of whatever I'm involved with (service industry). Makes for some expensive tips when eating at fancy restaurants.
Works well on 'most' bartenders, leave them a decent tip, they generally sort you out.

Possibly barber depending on how pleasant I found the experience. My hair cost is usually like £8-£9 so £10 and he keeps the change.

Delivery drivers are usually absolute ****ers. The amount of times they've got aggresive because they don't have enough change and I don't have a ludicrous amount of spare change to help. :/

Most people I "tip" are friends etc. Someone helps me out or whatever, a beer usually follows etc. :)
