Just a quick question, I know the answer will be (just get it serviced) but still wanted to see what other people would do.

I am on longlife servicing, so every 10k, my dash service indicator hasnt tripped over to "Service in XXX" miles yet, Im pretty sure it will do any moment though, my last service stamp shows that I have roughly a smidge over 1100 miles to go (if I remember correctly).

Thing is sometimes just before my service is due, my oil light comes on, now I dont mind topping it up, infact I have brought 4L of Castrol Edge today and plan on starting to buy the rest of the bits this week. But do I just top up slightly to remove the oil warning light, or just take it in to get the oil/oil filter change done, get book stamped and do the rest myself, or do I preserve my service intervals and wait until the service interval comes on so preserving the 10k service?

I guess I can tell the garage to do the oil filter/oil change, then when my service indicator light comes on just reset it?

Hence why I purchased the oil today.

What I am asking is...Why waste potentially half a liter or a liter of a 4L bottle, for it to be removed in say 2 weeks, for me to have to buy another bottle to make up for it.

Wasting money really, hence why I was thinking of just getting it serviced now.

^^ Ahh that's ok then, might as wel get it out the way now, I will go and have a quick peek at the dash to see how many miles left before service, I don't think its that many though.

Weird, it says Service Now :/

It was Last service was 128k, its on 136.5k, the garage reset the indicator last time. Usually I see it state "service in XXX miles" or service now when I turn on the ignition, but it doesn't, I only know that as I turned the ignition on and pressed trip reset.

Oh well, will get that done then
