The service for the mrs's car is due, she has a civic 1.4 automatic, on a P plate (97). Ive always had the car done on an annual basis through the local mechanic, where he has charged £100.
Im planning on doing it myself this time, due to us buying our first house, money is really tight now.
So apart from spark plugs, and changing the oil filter + oil, do i need to check anything else?
Ive driven the car myself a few times, and it rides well, i.e brakes are working fine, tires are looking healthy.

Any pointers for anything else.

Ta.

Airfilter, Look at the brake pads and disks. Check coolant level. Tyre Pressures. Windscreen Washer resovoir.

Probably a few more things. Just trying to think what I do when I service mine.

bigest tip i can give you... if the spark plugs dont come out easily, DONT FORCE THEM! thry are prone to snapping

i've had this happen to me before, it only takes one hamfisted trainee mechanic to overtighten them while the engine's still hot and you might as well have welded them in :(

Airfilter if it hasn't been changed recently. Theyre cheap enough and very easy to replace, especially considering their function - more so at MOT time for emisions reasons
