Set speed of CPU fan at start-up?

I'm looking for some software to control my fan automatically when I start up my computer? I use MSI Control Centre but it doesn't have a setting for the fan at start up. It's a bit of a pain having to load it and change fan settings every time.

Anyone have any suggestions?
 
I'd like to know if this is possible as well. I'm using SpeedFan to change CPU fan to 50% when I'm just using the internet when 100% is not needed.

It is a bit of a pain.
 
Speedfan can vary speed automatically and can load on startup. It's what I use. I set it up 18 months ago and just forget about it and let it do it's thing.

You just have to set desired temperatures above your idle and then set Speeds and assign them to your fans, or something.

Try Speedfan and add a shortcut for the program to the Windows startup folder in "all programs" and follow the info below.

If you open Speedfan, on the readings window click Configure > Speeds, then select the relevant speed label, and choose the minimum and maximum fan speeds, ie; min 50% max 100%. Then go back to the readings page and select the "Automatic Fan Speed" box, that should do the trick.
Just keep an eye on your temps and adjust the settings as necessary.

Edit; sorry forgot to add, to set the temps for the automatic fan speed to respond to. Click on Configure > Temperatures > Select the relevant label and adjust the desired temperature that you want the fan speed to adjust to.

As Baldbloke has mentioned if you have a modern MSI MB you can set the percentage of the fans speed in the BIOS - it will then only increase in speed if it goes over the dictated temperature that you input when setting up fan speed.

E.g. I have a MSI P67A-C45 and i've set my CPU fan speed to 50% and input a temperature of 50 degrees for the fan to start to spin to full speed. The only time it starts to do this is if i'm stress testing the CPU otherwise it's spinning silently at half it's optimum speed. Once the temps drop below 50 degrees the CPU fan then drops back to 50%.

Awesome, I've got a C45 and just changed it 50% then change at 50 degrees. Never realised I could do that. Also didn't realise the CPU fan was that loud at 100% but it's near enough silent now. Cheers!
 
And the best thing is, if you have a decent after market cooler, the fan will never actually kick in unless you're stress testing. Even during heavy gaming sessions (rare event) my temps never top 45°; making for a near silent machine (this is obviously dependent on the rest of your system fans and setup.)
