I have an internal PC that runs several pieces of software that must be connected over a web browser. I would like to be able to use a URL to reach them rather than typing in the PCs internal IP every time. Is there a way to do this?

Do these pieces of software run over an intranet or the internet? As i understand it you will need a DNS service or server of some kind to translate the urls into IP addresses and vice versa.

If it is only internal you can just edit the PC's hosts file. It is well documented in the file itself, just use a text editor.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Beyond your own internal network, you will need a DNS service like DynDNS and to put an entry for port forwarding on your router.
