Run SETI on a GPU?
Run SETI on only one PC?

Our RAC is on the rise again, which is always good to see and has caused a fourth team to be added within our sights :). On a slightly more downbeat note, GPU Users Group are rapidly approaching us and at the rate they're going they might well be stomping us within a couple of weeks :(

Welcome to the new members, and as always congrats to the tiffy winners! Don't forget that you can get your tiffies from www.teamocuk.co.uk; simply click on your username, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the relevant urls to display them in all their Technicolor beauty on this forum! If you think you've been missed off the milestones list then please let me know so I can add you manually.

H'onwards and h'upwards!

Pains me to say i aint much good for helping at the minute, costing me an arm and a leg to keep the neighbours doing what they can will nip around and see what there is to upload.....back in a bit :)

Mr Biffa sah i honestly didn't receive a reply from you...me checked everywhere inbox, trash even 3rd draw down in kitchen cuboard :)

It's nice for me to appear in the news again :D

On the down side.......

Just put a bid in for an i7 860 (on the bay of e to replace the i5 650), purchased some more cables, a new case to transfer mid rig into (ready to upgrade to 2nd gen i7's) - then I goes back to mid rig to find the hdd's are just about capput.

Funny thing is - I run a dual boot system on the two hdd's (raid 0) - Win7 works fine but WinXP won't get passed "preparing network connections". Tried booting in safe mode (with no network support) but still no luck.

Am I missing something?

Looks like I will be running SETI from Win7 on mid rig until I can organise replacements (and time - mainly time) to re-install.

It never rains...........................it's always a hurricane.

Nice tiffy Mr Halz sah very well done :D

Morning all I'm doing a little seti now :), it won't be much, just a GTX260 running it but every bit helps.

It's been a while since I did this, is it still worth installing the lunatics optimisations thing?

Thanks for the news TT:)

Very nice tiffy Biffa and Halz:eek:

Im tryin to hang on Mr Halz but your just gone:(

But i do seem to be crawling away from Mr Edge:)

Rather nice tiffy Mr Biffa sah wot wot!

Just as an afterthought now that your pointers have helped me decide on a few things, the sandybridge cpu's that seem to be dropping like flies if you overdo the clocking - comparable cpu crunching 1 sr2 with 2 xeons would it be the same level of output as say 2 sandybridge 2600k at 4.6Mhz.....just curious.

Thank you Mr Marine there's no danger of me doing that again - us old fartknockers don't take as much juice to let loose i find nowadays :)

no matey
2 x Sandybridge 2600K @ 4.6 = 50K bigadv each = 100K
2 x 5650 Xeons @ 4.0 on SR2 = 140K bigadv
