SETI + MilkyWay

So I'd like SETI on CPU only and MilkyWay on GPU only, with both of them having suitable caches (big for SETI, small for MilkyWay).

Is this possible without getting slapped down every two minutes by MilkyWay? :/

I think with judicious app_info.xml editing you could remove the GPU client info from the one in the seti directory.

I run a Q6600 & ATI card, not had any problems running 4x ABC@Home units on the CPU and 1x Milkyway on the GPU.

I frequently swap MW for Collatz and ABC for World community or QMC without a hitch.

The cache for MW is 6x cpu so the max you can have for a quad is 24.

I don't have any problem running the combination - doing it now - but I do have problems keeping the right amounts of work for each project. I either don't have enough for one, or get constant scheduler spam from the other.

In SETI preferences, website, you can select CPU &/or GPU. I've run on CPU only ok with other BOINC projects. Sorry I don't know about Milky Way settings.
The cache problem is tricky. Rosetta causes problems either doesn't allow d/l's for SETI & Climate Prediction until cache is almost drained or & I have to suspend it & at times Rosetta seems to d/l much more units than the deadline will allow it to finish based on preference.
Maybe you are having similar probs with Milky Way.

Is the the SEti one giving you too much work? If you are running rescheduler or VLARKILL optimised client then that can cause problems like that.

The other thing is to adjust the cache sizes on the individual projects till you get a rough balance of what you want.

Looks like MW will get more of my resources again. Since the outage of a week ago one PC has a small buffer of work from Seti the other has no buffer. So it's now set for 99% work to Seti and 1% to MW. Guess what it's running 4 MW jobs and a single Seti one on the GPU and Seti is saying no work available.
