Seti - Win7 (RC) - Optimized Client & dll's

Ok Guys & Gals,

Decided to re-open this thread as I need some advice.

I managed to get Seti running on all three GTX260 GPU's but...... one always runs @ less than 2D clocks.

Also, it will only run on all three if I have the 1st & 3rd cards plugged into the TV (monitor).

I have tried running it on 186.18, 190.62 & 191.07 drivers and nothing seems to work. Enabling & Disabling SLI & Physx (all combinations) still nothing.

Can anyone advise how I can get Seti to run on all threee GTX260's when in Win7 (release candidate) as I would like to solve this before my recently ordered retail copy arrives next week.

The only other option I have is to stick with WinXP as it rus fine.

On Vista and Win7 you have to have a monitor or fool that card that you have a monitor plugged into it for each card.

In XP you don't.

With most graphics card come adapter for dvi to vga or similar, have you tried plugging these adapters onto the cards that dont have a monitor attached to see if it makes a difference?

I don't think that works you either have to have a monitor physically attached to each card or you have to have a dummy or loopback adapter. Which you can make yourself although they are sold somewhere online.

I've recently done this with win 7, it worked for seti and folding, you can get 75 ohm resistors from electronic shops, then stick them in the dvi / vga adaptors (can be picked up for £2.00 on auction sites) like so:

If you google 30 second dummy plug it will bring up some guides on how to do it.
After you've got them in extend your desktop on to the dummy screens and away you go.

I do wish there was a way to disable monitor detection. It gets so annoying on my KVM (every time I switch away and back with my Mac it goes doolally, and the laptop occasionally does the same).

Thanks for the info.

It does help.

As you have already stated, I have had to plug 2 of the 3 cards into the TV (monitor) and extend the desktop to get Seti to run on all three at full speed.

But this does seem far easier.

Is there any way to (legally) pick up cheap copies of XP now? I'm running Win 7 RC on the shed folder but once that expires I don't fancy paying full whack for win 7 just to sit out in the shed. Otherwise I'll have to try to get it working in linux :eek:

Thanks, windows 7 is cheaper though lol. Guess I'd better start learning linux, oh well I've got until March!
