just to clarify
Turn off DHCP on the old router. Give it a static IP, that's outside of the main routers DHCP. Set it's WiFi SSID/Password to the same as the main router, but on a different channel. Plug an ethernet cable in to one of it's LAN (switch) ports and plug it into a LAN (switch) port on the main router.
Dead easy!
