Setting correct memory frequency causes BSOD

So pretty much as the title states.

I'm using the Sabertooth 990FX board and I have 4 sticks of 4GB Corsair Ram - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-295-CS

On boot up the blurb states the memory is running at approximately 1300MHz. If I go into Bios and change that to 1600MHz (which is what I bought it as) then after a while in windows I get a Blue Screen of Death.

This forces me to run the memory at a lower frequency for stability.

Any ideas why this would be the case? And how I can get it working correctly.

have you only changed it to 1600mhz and not the timings as well??

Is the voltage correct and not above the recommended??

Have you any turbo modes ect enabled?
 
The bios is set to default I've not altered it at all.

All I was doing was upping the memory frequency. I thought everything else would auto adjust.

So if I up the frequency what else do I need to tweak?
 
According to Corsair, the timings of the 1600MHZ profile should be 9-9-9-24. Remember that 1600MHZ is above JDEC (or SPD) specs hence why it's not the default profile. You need to set the XMP in the BIOS to enable the 1600MHz..

I'm a little confussed by the OcUk ad claiming 9-9-9-24 values at 1333MHz and 8-8-8-24 values at 1600MHz?

Anyway, try the 9-9-9-24 and with a VDIM of 1.65v which wouldn't hurt.
 
I've had some further issues with this.

I've since been into my bios to attempt to set all the above values. However I'm not clear what boxes the numbers go into. Another guide I read said to put them in Cas - TRLD-TRD-TRAS. But the bios on my 990FX Sabertooth board does not have those under the timings menu. It has CAS but that's it.
 
Hmmm, I found what numbers to change. Changed them, set the voltage and same thing happened. Got into windows the moment I clicked firefox it BSOD me. Ram is back to what it was before being listed as 1236Mhz (or something very near to that) but my sticks are actually 1600Mhz
