I have just come into possession of a BeQuiet Silent Loop 240 and am pretty impressed with the results given this is my first departure from air cooling as it has knocked about 12% off my temps at both idle and load coming from a Thermalright HR-02 Macho.
Due to current circumstances I am having to have my base unit on my desk about 2ft away from my ears so I can just about hear the pump at 100% (2200rpm), whilst I have the fans running low enough to be silent (650rpm). The pump is silent at 60% (1600rpm) so I would like to have it on a profile that keeps it at the silent speed whilst the CPU is idle (<35c) but that switches it to 100% when the CPU starts working (>35c).
Does anyone have any comments on whether this would cause any issues in terms of the coolers operation, or would it be better to leave it at 100% and just put up with the slight noise which I will probably get used to. I guess I'm concerned about whether the motor is OK to have its power regulated in this way or if this will damage it.
