How would one go about downloading demos?

Live Marketplace is your friend ;)

Do you access that through the xbox? Sorry for being a noob :D

EDIT - Found it lol

I need to have a good play around, but my question about transfer speeds still stands....

Yeh just on the dashboard on your 360. You need to set up a Live account though first, which you can do from the dashboard too.

Yeh I've got 4mb connection and my 360 downloads are much slower then the equivalent on my PC. Maybe MS set a limit or something so when a new demo is released and everyone downloads it the servers don't overload and fall over? Just a guess that though :D
