Ok got myself a LG L226WTQ .... this was a jump from an old Dell 17" CRT and to say its been a dramatic change is an understatement ... to be totally honest its also been a bit of a disappointment ...

I play a lot of games CS:S / TFT2 / DoD:S / BF2142 / COD4 / BF2 mainly ... I find esp. in BF2 the game seems so very bright ... areas that were dark before ( I use all light settings ingame set to high ... dramatic shadows etc) and no matter what setting changes I seem to make it remains the same. I run desktop and games at the native res. 1680x1050@60Hz and am running a x1950xt 256mb gcard. Anyone any tips for setting this screen up as I might have to start gaming with sunglasses .....

Cheers Badass I will try that now ... I used the forte manager software (actually d/loaded the latest version) that came with screen but I ended up with it even brighter on desktop ... maybe to late at night with tired eyes and a beer fueled liver .... I'll try the link now thank you .

OK tried that link and it seemed to help the brightness a little .. so thought Id double check my colour settings through the forte manager settings ... and it turns out I didnt set it correctly ( I was adjusting the slider bar instead of moving the dark box inside the colour circle .. ) either way ingame its a little darker but nothing like with crt monitor (guess this is tft for you ?) .. Ive also noticed terrible ghosting when playing ... could this be down to my card .. only 256mb on it and Im running @ 1680x1050 ?

OK tried a 8800GTS 320mb and same terrible ghosting in BF2 .... any ideas? Cheers

Ok there may be a problem with the set

i have 2 LGs here both of which had that problem

You may need to change the panel type in the service menu,

google LG L226WTQ + ghosting problems and take it from there

Thanks for reply sid .... just an update here I d/loaded fraps and recorded a demo in bf2 and when watched back.... I still see the ghosting even in the recording would this not point to it maybe being a g/card / drivers issue rather then the tft itself ?

Im checking google now .

Ok sid ... checked google as you said and found a link (footie game site forum) found the posting about the service menu and as you said changed from the default panel setting to the one recommended ... jumped back into bf2 and zero ghosting !

Seems one hell of a weird way to sell this tft setup this way dont you think ?

Thanks again for the help .... ill stop kicking the dog now and maybe talk to the missus now ;)

Yeah both my Lgs had the same problem.

I was about to RMA it when i found the fix.

I RMA'd my LG, in return for a Samsung 226BW - worked as I expected it to, from the minute I got it out the box.

As far I'm concerned, LG can stick their hardware.
