Setting up a Mac Mini as a media center

Hi all,

I have a Mac mini I bought last summer currently gathering dust. (I was going to do some iPhone app development before I realised how much I hated Xcode and Objective C). I'd like to repurpose it as a music/media player in my home entertainment system, primarily for music. Yes I do still have the apple remote ;)

Thing is, I have little clue about OS X and apple applications specifically, I keep hearing about "Front Row", though I'm not sure if it would be the best thing to use.

I run iTunes on my PC, so I imagine I'd probably access the library across the network. As it'll be on a TV and a remote I am thinking the regular iTunes interface wouldn't be ideal, so if anyone who has done this or can point me towards a guide on what's what for non-Apple heads, let me know!

Thanks in advance.

See, that's exactly the kind of advice I needed, having not much of a clue of the software out there. Thanks Davey, had a quick look and it looks awesome!

Does it do easy music navigation, eg search/browse by artist, automatic playlists a la genius, that sort of thing?

Also, would a mac mini from last summer be able to output in 1080p to my TV?
