hi all

I have a new install of ubuntu Feisty, which is attached to a router, and also attached to the router is a network printer - a HP Photosmart 2575

i just need to set up the printer :)

i have messed around but not sure if what i have done is correct and/or the best way to do it

situation so far is:
HPLIP was installed through synaptic

QUESTION 1
do i need a ppd file? - I ASSUMED NO
HP don't seem to provide one but i know this printer will work under linux - any idea where i can get one?

QUESTION 2
In Step 1 of printer connection - do i choose local or network?
OK - so Network seems to be the obvious choice but under local it already shows the connected printer - which should it be?
I CHOSE NETWORK

QUESTION 3
In Step 2 i can only select the hpijs driver - is this correct or should it be hplip or something?
I HAD TO SELECT HPIJS what happened to HPLIP? - is that the best driver to use?

QUESTION 4
I select HP and Photsmart 2570 (and hpijs) and ignored the install driver button. I then did forward and put in the IP of the router.

Basic printing now works :)

QUESTION 5
Any idea how to get the scanner to work (the photocopy bit works fine)

many thanks
