Has anyone here set up a shortcode SMS service with their company? We're looking at doing one for a competition (so one month max) and just after some advice and company recommendations.

Used http://www.migcan.com/mobile-technology/mvoy-connect/ as a UK aggregator a few years ago. They weren't bad.

Essentially (my knowledge is a little out of date - last did SMS stuff back in 2008) most aggregators will give you two (or more) connection types. I used to use either HTTP or SMPP. HTTP is easier to implement (usually it'd just be a web URL you'd need to hit to send / receive SMS) but SMPP gives a lot more throughput (which is of a concern if you need to send/receive a large number of SMS messages per second.
