Setting up a side monitor

I've wanted a small side monitor in portrait orientation for a liitle while and I've managed to get a 17" LG Flatron today. It has a dvi input.

My main monitor is a 24" Benq and that is connected with dvi.

My gpu is an MSI 7850, it has x1 dvi, x1 hdmi (can't use), x2 displayport.

Is my best option to buy 2 displayport to dvi apadters and run a dvi cable from each displayport to each monitor?

I've never run dual monitor before and I'm a little uncertain as to what to do.

Advice appreciated.

Why cant you use the HDMI? and use a HDMI-DVI cable.

Just dvi and vga.

Ah, didn't think about that. So does that mean use the gpu dvi for one monitor and the hdmi to dvi for the other?
