I'm looking for reviews/opinions on the best way to set up a sports team website for the tech-illiterate...

A single football team, looking for templated site that is easy to customize and upload data too, plus link in data from a main league website.

I can google away a lot of these, but personal user experiences are more useful I think.

All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Hi there,

I think a WordPress or Joomla platform would work best in your situation. You could make your own WordPress/Joomla template with Artisteer.

Ok, thanks for the advice - that might be the simplest option.

Anybody any experience with sports-specific sites, that have templates entirely geared to soccer teams?

This isn't something that I want a long term involvement in - just setting up for a tech-illiterate and having it as easy as possible to maintain.

Cheers.

There should be plenty of free soccer based templates on the internet. If you can't find any to your liking then you could use Artisteer (A simple UI based template design program) to modify/create one. It's not free but does have a free trial available. ;)

Once you have decided on the design/template, you could then look into getting a cheap HostGator account to send it live.

Hope this helps.
