Hi folks,
I've just installed a Fli Trap Active 12" sub/amp in my car (http://www.fliaudio.co.uk/index.asp...-frequency.html&sidemore=s-flitrapactive.html)

On the back of it, there are "Gain" and "Frequency" dials - can anyone give me a tip as to the best way to set these up (short of just turning them until it sounds alright!)? I guess the "Gain" should be set somewhere in the middle as I don't want the sub to be thrashed.

What would you good folk recommend to a person setting up his first sub/amp?

Cheers,
Matt

on the freq control, the knob will usually have a range (min to max) usually 60 to about 120

i recommend you set this to 80 as a starting point.

as for gain, set that to minimum to start with and slowly increase it till sounds about loud enough.

anything much past the the 12 oclock position is generally the verge of too far. too far and it starts clipping and sounding rubbish

Thanks for the advice. On this particular active sub, there are no markings on the frequency as can be seen in this PDF: http://www.fliaudio.co.uk/downloads/FLI Loaded 200 Amp Manual.pdf

It mentions it to have a "40-250Hz Variable 12dB crossover" - I presume then that I set the Frequency to about 9 o'clock? Is it that the lower the frequency value, the less bass is produced or the other way around?

Matt
