Hi.

I currently have a subscription based VPN service with http://www.vpngates.com/, but I was wondering if it is possible to set up this kind of service using my own computer at home; connecting to the server I set up just as I connect to my current VPN right now.

Is it just as simple as making the VPN at home using windows network and connections wizard, and then connecting to the IP address (Dynamic, but 14 day lease) from my away based location? My home connection doesnt use a router, but just connects directly via cable modem.

I use my current VPN to connect to online games (MMORPG -- FFXI) at my University residence, and without the VPN the connection to the gaming servers is not possible.

Any help would be great; the cost of private VPN is annoying me lol.

Do the games you play require a low latency? I'd imagine by going via your home connection, you're going to be adding 40ms to your latency at the very least.

You'' also be limited by your home upload, if it's 1mbps for example, you'll only be able to download at 1mbps whilst VPN'ed.
