Hello,

I was wondering if someone could please help me on how to setup a access point because I just can't seem to figure it out. I have BT infinity if that makes any difference and I can also PM anyone my teamviewer info if necessary

Thanks guys much appreciated

The access point with wrt is connected to the bt home hub and I am connected wirelessly to it to get into the control panel

trust me your teamviewer and ill have a look, never done it on WRT before but done it with other routers. hopefully the knowledge will transfer over!.

BT home hub should be connected via Ethernet to the Ap device

Ap device should have a static IP address within the subnet range of the bt home hub router, set that to something outside of the dhcp range.

The AP should have dhcp disabled and the bt home hub should handle this.

Set an encryption on the ap, preferably to match your home hub, doesn't really matter but you don't want it open

In theory that should be enough as long as you authenticate against the AP, this should then route you through it's gateway which will be the home hub thus giving you an ip address, dns and Internet access

Thats what i tried but it wasn't having it :(

I had a look at this.

home hub ip 192.168.1.254
dd wrt ip 192.168.1.1

both on the same subnet

dd wrt - has the gateway and dns set to 192.168.1.254
has wireless mode set as AP

has DHCP forwarded enabled and IP for DHCP server 192.168.1.254

firewall and other settings disabled on DD WRT

when you run an ipconfig

the wireless picks up an ip address however it has a gateway and dns of 192.168.1.1

this is probably why it is not picking up internet as it is not getting to the gateway for some reason.

Thanks guys I am actually receiving a Asus RT-AC66U tomorrow to replace my home hub 3 so if anyone is willing to help me out tomorrow they can setup that too :)

Also does anyone know if the AC66U will improve the range comparing to home hub 3?

Got my AC66U working which replaced the home hub 3 but the DD-WRT access point is still not working.. Anyone willing to try fix it via teamviewer?

Cheers
