I've just revieved my Aego M's this afternoon and was just wondering on what was the best way to set them up?

I am never very good at setting speakers up on computers, and seem to be having a bit of a problem. First off, what output on the back of my computer should I be using? At the moment I have them plugged in but am only getting sound out of the the right satellite and the sub :/

Im just using onboard sound at the moment and have a DFI nforce 4 board.

Also what software settings are best?

Cheers.

They should be plugged into the green port on your mobo, which is for the front channel. Maybe you should double check the red and white connection to the computer and the wires going from the satellites to the sub? I had to mess around with mine a bit before they worked properly since the manual's a little bit crap...

Mmm, not sure what's wrong then. So I am using the cable with black plug --> Red & white ends, with the black plug in the green socket on the mobo and the red and white in the corresponding red and white sockets on the back of the sub.

It's definitely not the speaker as I've swapped them round to double check that. Could it be something that is set up incorrectly in control panel? I'm useless with speaker set ups.........

Hmm, that sounds like its set up correctly. It's how I have mine in anyway. Maybe try restarting the computer? On my X-Fi there aren't a huge amount of options relating to speaker setup, most of the controls are to do with sound. What kind of options do you have in your control panel?

Haha, right got that sorted. Just turns out that the speaker cable on the left hand side wasn't in properly. Now what should I have set up on the following, or does it not really matter?

Also, I have heard people talking about turing off all the equalizers off to make them sound better, which equalizers do people mean?

Hmm, I've never seen that menu before but I'd say stereo speakers is what you're looking for. As for the equalisers, I think people mean the ones in your media player and in your soundcard control panel. I personally think they sound better with the rock eq turned on in my iTunes, but each to his own. Mess around with different settings until you find something you like.

Also just wondering, at the moment I am using the front channel out on my onboard sound --> RCA inputs on the sub, and if I was to get a sound card I would use the RCA outputs on the card --> RCA inputs on the sub, what is the use for the seperate 'center' input and output, and how would you get a seperate feed for it?

I think AE sell a centre speaker which you can plug into those connections. It turns the speakers into a 3.1 set as far as I know, I think the centre speaker is used for movie dialogue and such like in a 5.1 setup. It seems pretty rare though, I saw the Aego 2 version floating around but I haven't seen one for the Aego M.
