Setting up an online shop. What sort of Certificate do I need?

Hi all,

I'm currently working on a website which is going to be used by a university society. One of the requirements is to be able to sell tickets online to members in the society, I've looked around at the software required and I think OSCommerce will do the job. I'm a bit stumped as to which sort of SSL certificate I need for something this small.

I've tried the Verisign wizard application on their website and it says that the one I need will cost something like £995 for a two year certificate, is this how much this sort of certificate would cost?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks for the replies guys. It was only supposed to be a pretty small shop, ideally dealing with maybe 20-30 transactions per month so when I saw the quote for £995, I was more than a little shocked
