Hi,

I've just picked up a Panasonic AS650, and have it hooked up to my Yamaha RX-V373 av receiver. I'm having issues with ARC when switching between HDMI input and back to the TV - to the extent that the sound will mute itself until I turn off HDMI Control on the receiver.

I'm not sure if it's a 'bug' or incompatibility, or if I've perhaps not got it setup correctly as it's the first time I've used it. As far as I can tell, it must be setup correctly as when I turn on HDMI Control/ARC on the receiver it works initially, the problem only arises after I switch inputs.

I've experienced something similar with a Panny/Yam combo. In that particular case there was a TV audio pop-up menu that allowed the connection to be kick-started again.

I found having the HDMI Control switched on just seems to cause problems..

So I always have it switched off..

Comically enough, I was just trying to get this working on a V375 and nothing.

Looking around, it would appear that Yamaha don't allow you to set the input ARC port on this amp range which default to AV1 (toslink port) which, obviously isn't the HDMI out port.

So ARC while 'a feature' to this range of amps, is completely useless in design.

Funny enough my Yamaha didn't have hdmi etc, and I've just got it t work

It auto comes on with the right cable. Even said TV on the receiver

Gives me hope for mine... I'll keep looking as what I find should be the same for the OP.

Never had a problem using a V373 with my Panasonic TV, the amp should be defaulting to AV4 for audio though for ARC, the manual even states as such.

Yeah, found that. it uses the name of AV4 but turns AV4 into a internal virtual port and not the AV4 physical port. (Just badly worded in the manual)

My issue was that the TV wasn't outputting the sound in PCM.
