Currently looking at Be, and the Be unlimited package. The only problem I have is, it needs a BT line and because I live in a house with a BT pay phone (shared house) will that still be classed as a BT line?

Also I dont know the number, how would I go about getting it?

God. Trying to set up this internet is confusing :(

Cheers for moving mods :D my bad.

lol ye I know! its jsut another way our sodding landlady can make more cash out of us...

If I ring up Be and say

"Look, I want the internet, hes my postcode, can it happen...?"

Will that work?

I am not sure tbh. when you order adsl all you do is provide the number so aslong as you know the number, and also sometimes products flag as incompatable such as pbx services, not 100% if this would flag up as impompatable. You can have outgoing calling barred for example and adsl still works, technically it should work, no harm in ordering, all they can do is say no. If you have access to the socket the landlord wouldnt need to know.

does it have a normal telephone socket or are all the wires hidden?

It's down to your landlord as to if you can have a line installed! Naturally it will have nothing to to with the cion box line you will have to pay for the line rental and then the BB from whoever you choose as your BB ISP. So there is probably an installation line charge.

confusing? why?
You need a telephone line (BT/CABLE).
You need a landline number. (hmm??)
You need a ISP (Internet Service Providor)

..Then thats it. You give the number to the internet providor and wait follow instructions.

Have you tried that? BT's line to us has always been that an outgoing call bar is incompatible with ADSL, which seems at odds with how the technology works and the way it all fits together but we've never bothered to try and prove it....

Im with Be Simon, and never had any problems, its great and they gave me a days free internet on my Birthday last week :D
