I have just got hold of a cheap 4870 which I am going to crossfire with my existing 4870, but this is the first time i've ever set up crossfire so just want to check a few things.
1. How many crossfire ribbons should i use, i've noticed some with one on and others using two.
2. Is there anything i need to do to turn crossfire on or will it just detect the extra card and turn its self on?
3. It there any extra drivers i need to install?
4. Is there any pitfalls I should watch out for?
Thanks

1. You only need to use one.
2. You need to enable crossfire in CCC
3.Nope.
4.You minimum fps will more than likely go down, more heat and power.

Hi, I have been using 5870's x-fired for some time now. Setting up crossfire is pretty simple, just fire them both in and put the crossfire cable on, when you boot into windows CCC normally comes up right away and puts crossfire on, it's just a tab in CCC. I'm just about to reinstall windows on my machine and i'm unsure what drivers to use for crossfire tbh. 10.6 are deadly, don't touch them. I have been running 10.7 but have noticed a slowdown in BFBC2, I think i'm gonna go back to 10.5 but would other people opinions ?

Oh yeah I use both crossfire cables, it's not supposed to make a difference but keeps it where I know it is and looks a bit better :)
