I have Beyerdynamic DT990 and Asus STX soundcard what is the best way to get the Dolby surround sound in game ?

Do i have to set windows to 7.1 then go into the Asus programming and put the channels to 8 and use DH2?

Only problem is having to change it back to stero every time I want to listen to music ,(seems windows also changes its settings to stero too)

Anyway to make this easier and quicker ? Pretty frustrating needing to change my settings all the time

Just set the "audio channels" to 8, this will set windows to 7.1 automatically, then make sure analog out is "Headphone" then tick Dolby Headphone. Done.

But yes, you do, and should, turn Dolby off and change audio channel back to 2 when you listen to music unless you use a WASAPI player like foobar.

Is there no way to do this quickly ? Really annoying having to set it every time I want to game

I just select headphone output, 8 channel and then hit the GAME button

To go back I just select 2 channel and the HF button

Problem I have with that is the GAME uses DH mode 3 which sounds awful IMO. I use mode 2.

You sure of that? It's DH2 on mine.

The Music setting uses DH3 but gaming and movies both use DH2 and seeing as I only ever listen to music in stereo I don't actually ever use DH3.

My bad, just checked and game is 2. I could, therefore, use it lol
