Righto. I've signed up for Google Apps and need a bit of help. As it stands i have 3 email addresses with my domain (currently hosted elsewhere) but i want to transfer these over. These are [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].

Now, when i first logged in i created 3 separate users with those 3 email addresses. With one of those being the administrator. But i just noticed i can simply add a 'nickname' for my main email address:
'A nickname is another address where people can email Robert.'

Can i just create nicknames 'mail' and 'scam' onto my main 'rob' account to receive my email for all those addresses, once i've changed the MX records?

Also, is there anything else i need to do to set it up for email? :)

Should this all work once the MX records are changed and propogated? I want to use Thunderbird/pop3 initially (together with gmail/webmail for when i'm not at my PC), but might look into imap in the future. I'm fine with setting up Gmail for either.

Thanks for any pointers, i'm kinda winging it here but i dont want to be email-less!

Hmn could a mod copy this into the Networks forum? Probably should have posted this in there?

Righto. I'm all set up with imap Gmail. It's nice to have everything sync'd.

I have one question though, i have an @gmail.com account that i have set my domain email to fetch via pop3 -- i did this in the gmail settings. Is there any way to set up Thunderbird to allow me to send mail from this @gmail address instead of my domain address?

EDIT: Scrap that last question. I've managed to set up another identity with my 'old' @gmail.com address and now that i've set it up to use the smtp server logged in from that account, the sender shows as my @gmail.com address. Sweet!

Now this leads me to another question. How do i set Thunderbird up to do as Gmail will do, and automatically reply as the address which an email was sent to? :p

Ah yes. I've just found this extension which sounds like it might do the trick. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow when i'm a bit more awake
